Why assuming C boys already

How can we say that c couples imply c boys. And how come the probability of no. of girls then calculated. Anyone?

The question does not state it explicitly, so let us assume that “specific gender” is male. So couples stop having more children when they give birth to a boy child. So each couple has 1 and only 1 boy. Hence C couples have C boys.
